Rick Kieser
Chief Executive Officer

Rick was appointed chief executive officer of Ascribe in 2012, after serving as chief operating officer for two years. A seasoned executive leader with 20 years of operating, management consulting and venture capital experience, Rick is charting Ascribe's transformation from a mid-sized company into a leading, global provider of analytics services for Fortune 500 companies. On a daily basis, he oversees Ascribe's fiscal operations, marketing, human resources and technology strategies.

Prior to joining Ascribe in 2010, Rick dedicated 13 years to leading growth equity investments and managing portfolio companies in the software, business intelligence and technology industries. This includes four years as the managing director at Clean Wave Ventures, and nine years as a partner at River Cities Capital Funds. Earlier, Rick gained six years of international management consulting experience, specializing in operational improvement initiatives, AT Kearney and Gemini Consulting. He launched his career as a financial analyst at Security Pacific Merchant Bank.

Rick holds a degree in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he later served on the Alumni Executive Committee. He is a graduate of the Venture Capital Institute and is a Certified Director. Rick has also served as Chairman and President of the Greater Cincinnati Venture Association and on the University of Cincinnati Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board.

Rick is based in Ascribe's world headquarters in Cincinnati.

Charles Baylis
Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder

Charles is one of Ascribe's founders and the original developer of the Ascribe platform on which our company is built. As chief technology officer, he is responsible for the design, development and quality assurance of all Ascribe products. He demands world-class programming from his team, and continually strives to improve the Ascribe interface and to offer better tools based on the most up-to-date technologies and user feedback.

A serial entrepreneur with years of technology and development experience, Charles has been creating software products for more than two decades. Before joining Ascribe he worked for Applied Materials, then for two major players in the semiconductor manufacturing automation industry: Domain Logix, as vice president of product development; and FASTech, as director of product development. Earlier, Charles founded, developed and sold two successful software companies in the semiconductor manufacturing automation business: Baylis Automation and Lights Out Software.

Charles holds an engineering sciences degree from Dartmouth College, a master's in materials science from Stanford University, and a master's in electrical engineering from University of California at Berkeley. Charles resides in Santa Cruz, California. 

Dean Kotchka
Chief Product Officer

A seasoned entrepreneur and one of the key creators of the Ascribe global platform, Dean is a technology innovator with the unique ability to synthesize client requests to create easy-to-use applications. As a partner at Ascribe, he brings decades of operational experience spanning a range of industries from accounting to manufacturing, and he has extensive operational experience counseling early- and late-stage technology companies, including Ascribe.

Dean joined Ascribe in 2001 as a partner and senior software developer. He served chief executive officer from 2009 through March of 2012 and has also continually worked as part of the product development team. Dean is largely responsible for Review Responses, Phrase Analyzer (multi-response categorization tools), Text Analytics and the back-end reporting tools within the Ascribe software. He is a Certified Public Accountant, having worked for eight years with one of the major "Big Eight" accounting firms. He also is a successful entrepreneur with more than 25 years experience, founding and operating a successful make-to-order manufacturing company and subsequently a company that developed and marketed software designed to manage small manufacturers.

Dean earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from Wright State University. He is based in Ascribe's world headquarters in Cincinnati.

Patrick Cassady

Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development

Patrick joined Ascribe in 2013, bringing more than 20 years of successful sales experience to the company. He currently leads Ascribe’s business development team, drawing on his extensive experience in delivering multi-million dollar revenue growth for Software as a Service (SaaS) providers.  His ability to identify market needs and develop high performing sales processes result in new opportunities for both Ascribe and its clients.

Previously, Patrick served as Regional Vice President of Sales at Infor Global Solutions. He has also served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Services with ENXSuite and as Vice President of Sales for the Enterprise Expense Management Group with Rearden Commerce.

A graduate of Pepperdine University, Patrick resides in San Jose, California.

Rudy Bublitz

Vice President, Global Business Development

Rudy brings more than 30 years of marketing and survey research experience to his role as vice president of global business development at Ascribe. Since joining Ascribe in 2001, he has worked with virtually every one of our clients around the globe, listening to their needs and delivering customized services that streamline their processes and increases overall data management productivity.

Prior to joining Ascribe, Rudy served as senior account manager at Knowledge Network, now a part of the GfK Group, one of the world's largest research companies. Earlier, he held vice president of sales positions with several information technology and predictive analysis consultancies, including DBM Associates, SPSS Inc. and Quantime (acquired by SPSS). Rudy launched his career in 1981 with MRSI, a strategic market research firm and a member of the MVL Group of companies.

Rudy earned a degree in psychology from Michigan State University. He is based in Cincinnati, but spends much of his time in Europe working on new business development, partner acquisition, and customer retention.

Kevin Grimmer
Vice President of Sales

As vice president of sales at Ascribe, Kevin is dedicated to delivering Ascribe's latest text analytics products and services to market, increasing sales and connecting more clients with our core products and services. With more than 15 years of sales and strategic business development experience, Kevin has extensive knowledge of how to bring new products to the market, growing territories from the ground floor, and developing key strategic partnerships and alliances.

Kevin has long specialized in the business-to-business segments of research, data, software and professional services. Before joining the Ascribe team, he managed the Midwest sales territory for MarketTools CustomerSat, a leading provider of voice-of-the-customer survey programs. Prior to that he served in various sales management positions with firms specializing in finance, investments, accounting and executive compensation, including Cost Management Performance Group; Glass, Lewis & Co.; and OTA/Off the Record Research. These roles prepared Kevin to provide expert counsel to clients as they analyze the return on investment of various solution models.

Kevin earned a degree in finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He has served on the Mariemont (Cincinnati) Board of Education, and is based in Ascribe's world headquarters in Cincinnati.

Chrissy Stevens
Vice President, Ascribe Solutions

As vice president of Ascribe Solutions, Chrissy provides executive leadership to the Ascribe Solutions team and works with passion and diligence to provide our customers with best-in-class services ranging from coding, translation, transcription and downstream reporting across various industries. She has drawn on her 23 years of verbatim management experience to build a global network of experts that includes employees, contractors and partners from around the world.

Chrissy joined Ascribe's client services department in 2000. Over the years she worked her way up the company ladder, from account manager to general manager of Ascribe Coding and finally to vice president of Ascribe Solutions. Prior to joining Ascribe, Chrissy worked for 10 years at PERT Survey Research, a leading research-based consulting firm, as coding manager and project director.

Chrissy earned her bachelor's degree in international business at Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, Pa. She is based in Pittsburgh.

Lara Rice
Director, Ascribe Training

Lara Rice is director of Ascribe training, bringing more than 10 years of experience to her role of educating clients on the Ascribe platform. Her responsibilities include developing training exercises for new Ascribe functions, ensuring that clients successfully implement the Ascribe platform, and communicating client needs to program developers.

Lara joined Ascribe in 2001 as account manager for Ascribe Coding. Over the years, she ascended the ranks to the position of director of support and ultimately to her current role as director of Ascribe training. She began her survey research career as coding coordinator at BASES (part of Nielsen), a provider of simulated test marketing for consumer packaged goods brands. In this role, Lara helped to test and implement the Ascribe platform.

Lara received a bachelor's degree in literature at Northern Kentucky University. She is based in Ascribe's world headquarters in Cincinnati.

Mark Thatcher
Director, Product Integration and Support

With more than 20 years of market research experience, Mark Thatcher is an expert in data processing and interpretation. As Director of Product Integration and Support, he works closely with Ascribe™ development, sales and training teams, offering clients the best possible solutions for data flow into and out of the Ascribe™ platform. Mark also heads the support team to ensure clients receive timely and accurate answers to any issues, going above and beyond to distinguish our support team in the customer care arena.

Mark joined Ascribe in 2003 and has helped virtually every new client integrate our platform into its daily processes. An early adopter of technology, Mark played a significant role in pursuing the Internet as an alternative means of data collection for survey research. He previously worked at a provider of simulated test marketing for consumer packaged goods brands, most recently as vice president of data processing. Mark's responsibilities included data collection, tabulation and vendor management. He also vigorously pursued Ascribe™ as an advanced low cost data processing tool for the global team.

Mark has degrees in information systems and business administration from the University of Cincinnati. He is a member of the ACM, MRA and CASRO. He is based in Ascribe's world headquarters in Cincinnati.
